Monday - November 23rd
"Persuasive Arguments" - Large Solo Quest - 10XP, 5g, 1gc
Using the rhetorical principles discussed in class, craft a short persuasive piece on an issue of your choice. You want to explain all of the following at the top of your piece:
Ethos - How are you the authority on the matter?
Audience - Who are you speaking to?
Kairos - What makes this the best time?
Prepon - Based on your audience and timing, what types of facts/opinions/tone is appropriate?
Also, put in bold and in parenthesis the following terms before you use them in your piece:
Pathos, Logos and Metanoia.
Choose a topic of you choice that requires a persuasive speech to win someone over to your point of view. This assignment should be at least 500 words. If you use other rhetorical devices (can be found online), you can use them and bold them for extra XP.
HINT: You can respond to a speech you find online if you find that easier.
Turn this file into the "Quest Turn In" folder under "Persuasion and Rhetoric." Make sure the title of you document is "Last Name - Avatar - Rhetoric and Persuasion".

"Persuasive Gaming" - Large Solo Adventure 25XP, 10g, 2gc
This quest has two components: The first part is called "Persuasive Gaming" and the second part is "Critical Advertising." Both are due on Monday, November 30th (the Monday after break).
"Persuasive Gaming" - 10XP
For this assignment, you are to write a short essay on how to use rhetoric in your presentation. You must address ethos, logos, pathos, kairos, metanoia, audience, and prepon in your essay. Please fulfill the following requirements:
"Critical Advertising" - 15XP
For this assignment, you will be writing out a 30 second advertisement draft for your game. For this assignment to be considered complete, you must write a "paragraph" per "shot" to indicate how you imagine the advertisement being filmed. For this assignment, a paragraph indicates a separated body of text, and a shot is a continuous moment on screen (ex. panning over the game board, or someone talking in front of the camera). Make sure you indicate next to the shot number how much time you imagine the shot taking out of the 30 seconds.
Submit this assignment in the folder "Critical Advertising" with the document name "Last Name - Avatar - Critical Advertising."
Hint: It would be wise to film the advertisement by Monday, November 30th so you don't have to rush to do it by Wednesday. Remember, only one filmed advertisement is needed per group.
